Rajna Swaminathan

Rhythm Fantasies, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization established in Maryland for the promotion of South Indian Classical Music & Dance. 

Activities:

• Fall 2008 - Veena (lute - Sri R. K. Padmanabha), Venu (flute - Sri Mysore A. Chandan), Violin (Sri H. K. Narasimhamurthy), Mrudangam/Kanjira/Konnakkol (Dr. P. K. Swaminathan) & Ghatam/Moresing (Sri V. S. Ramesh) - 8 city tour of USA at Universities

• Spring 2007 - mini tour featuring Issai Mazhalai musicians from India (Vidya, Dharini, Bharat Sundar, Sudha Iyer and Ananthakrishnan) with Rajna Swaminathan on Mrudangam

• Fall 2006 - two special dance performances featuring legends Prof C. V. Chandrasekhar and Sri Adyar K. Lakshman

• Summer 2006 - special performance by legendary dance couple Dhananjayan & Shantha at the Smithsonian

• Spring 2006 - Flute Trio mini tour featuring Flute Maestro Dr. N. Ramani with son Thyagarajan and grandson Atul Kumar with Dr. P. K. Swaminathan & Miss Rajna Swaminathan on Mrudangam

• Fall 2004 - Mrudangam (Sri Umayalpuram K. Sivaraman), Ghatam (Sri E. M. Subramanian), Violin (Sri Nagai Sriram), Jalatharangam (Sri Somayajulu), Chenda (Sri Mattanoor Sankarankutty) & Edakka/Thimila/Ela thALam (Sri Unnikrishnan) - 25 city tour of USA in high profile venues

• Fall 2003 - Rudrapatnam Brothers (vocal), Sri Mysore Srikanth (Violin) & Dr. P. K. Swaminathan (Mrudangam) - 20 city tour of USA at Universities and Indian sabhas

• Spring 2003 - Charumathi / Shubasree Ramachandran (vocal), Sri Mysore Srikanth (Violin) & Dr. P. K. Swaminathan (Mrudangam) - 20 city tour of USA at Universities and Indian sabhas

• Spring 2002 - Two mini tours by Sri Trichur V. Ramachandran & Sri Neyveli Santhanagopalan accompanied by Dr. P. K. Swaminathan on Mrudangam

• Spring 1999 to Spring 2001 - six visits of two months each by Mrudangam Maestro Sri Umayalpuram K. Sivaraman for teaching and performance at various Universities and other high profile events such as PASIC (Percussive Arts Society International Convention, KOSA International Percussion Camp, etc.
